Tom Aldren - Violin
Tom Aldren is a violinist with a wide range of musical interests. Over the past few years he has performed with many of today’s best-known musical artists, from Martha Argerich, Maxim Vengerov and Stephen Hough to Burt Bacharach and Dizzee Rascal. He has always had a passion for chamber music, and alongside the Gildas String Quartet he also plays with the Lipatti Piano Quartet, and has performed in festivals alongside Lawrence Power, Anthony Marwood, Tamsin Waley-Cohen, Valeriy Sokolov and Tom Poster over the past few years. He has also performed many of the major violin concerti, including those by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Stravinsky, Sibelius and Alfred Schnittke.
Alongside his position as Principal 1st Violin (No. 3) with Manchester Camerata, Tom frequently appears as a guest principal player with many of the UK’s leading orchestras, including the CBSO, BBC Symphony, BBC Scottish and Bournemouth Symphony Orchestras, and chamber orchestras such as the Scottish Chamber Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra and London Sinfonietta.
He plays a violin by Antonio Gragnani made in Livorno, 1779.
